The controversial sale of one of Brighton and Hove's biggest care homes has been approved.
The Charities Commission has rejected a final appeal over the closure of Dresden House in Medina Villas, Hove - ending any remaining hopes campaigners had of saving the home.
In a letter to Nick Steadman, whose aunt died weeks after moving out of Dresden House, Helen Harrison from the commission said the trustees of Dresden House had made a good enough case for the sale and had followed the proper procedures.
It is understood that Oakleys the commercial property agents will now conduct the sale of the home, worth £7 million, via a closed envelope bidding process.
Mr Steadman said: "We have fought a decent fight with all the weapons at our disposal but the present bureaucracy involved simply provides us with no possibility of redress."
