Football fanatic Anita Wiewiora is within striking distance of being part of World Cup final night after she re-enacted a goal celebration.

The 20-year-old, of Chichester Close, Hangleton, Hove, has been short-listed in the EDF Energy search for the country's most energetic fan after she let loose with her broom while on her cleaning rounds on Brighton beach.

A mobile phone clip of the celebration was sent to EDF Energy, which is the joint sponsor of ITV's coverage of the 2006 World Cup.

Anita's picture was selected from hundreds nationally.

If she is crowned the most energetic fan, her goal celebration will be filmed by a professional crew and broadcast on EDF's ITV sponsorship trailer on July 9 - World Cup final night.

Despite being from Poland originally, Anita, who has worked for Brighton and Hove City Council as a beach cleaner for a year, is cheering for England.

She said: "The English people are so involved in the World Cup with the flags everywhere - it is very different to the fans in Poland.

"It makes it much more exciting and everyone wants England to do well.

"I love Brighton and Hove - it is a great city and this is a wonderful place to be for the World Cup."

But Anita needs the people of Sussex to offer their support.
