As soon as the summer traffic jams kick in, Brighton and Hove City Council again trots out the discredited storyline that a park-and-ride would help.
Would someone please point out to Simon Burgess that concreting over most of the South Downs still would not have supplied anywhere near the capacity to help the many thousands of motorists stuck in the traffic queues caused by the London-to-Brighton bike ride.
It seems it's going to be a long, hot and pointless summer if Simon Burgess persists in pushing the park-and-ride line and one which will ultimately lose the Labour Party many votes at the next election.
