I have suffered the same problem as your correspondent who wrote about a "Smoking bin" (Letters, June 19) with people lighting fires on a hot summer's day in the afternoon and evening creating smoke in the air.
It means you cannot sit outside but have to retire to the lounge with all the outside doors and windows closed and just get hot.
I reported this problem to the council, only to be told the fire lighter should act responsibly and not light a fire if it may interfere with people in the local area.
If you can identify the address, the council will send them a bonfire leaflet which suggests garden rubbish should not be burnt but taken to the local tip. You can light a fire in your garden whenever you want and there is not a thing the council can do to stop you.
So might I suggest you buy a large fan to keep yourself cool when sitting in your lounge.
