For nearly ten years, label manager, DJ and producer Konrad Black has been steadily churning out a series of top-tier 12-inches, characterised by a warped, almost gothic approach to minimal techno.
The productions are already standard issue for forward-thinking jocks from Swayzak to Ivan Smagghe (who licensed a track for his forthcoming Fabric mix).
The Vancouver resident's signature mix of dirty bass and atmospheric sounds emerged from his roots in drum 'n' bass and hip-hop.
After his first release on Formation Records in the UK, influences such as Maurizio and Klang inspired more minimal sounds, leading to tracks such as Nails and the Heavy Metal Withdrawal EP. He went on to record for Output Recordings and work with Unkle under the name Headgear.
In 2004, Konrad formed Wagon Repair Recordings with Mathew Jonson, Graham Boothby and Jesse Fisk. Their first release Draconia enjoyed international success, as did club hit Medusa Smile.
