I am writing to complain about the new Cityclean bin collection service. Although I approve wholeheartedly of the new system, as a fervent environmentalist who has been recycling for years anyway, I do not approve of its implementation, or lack of it.
When the new green bins were first introduced, our single carrier bag of rubbish was left behind by the bin men who apparently didn't think it worth taking.
Although we rang up to complain and were told they would come back for our bin, no one did and our complaint was ignored. Last week, on bin collection day, we watched two bin men look in our wheelie bin, see only one carrier bag and, once again, leave it behind.
We had to run outside and tell them to take it, as we do not want what little rubbish we do produce left stinking in our bin cupboard for an extra week.
The same bin men then not only took rubbish from extra bins which neighbours had put out - which is not supposed to be collected under the new rules - but also went into a neighbour's garden and cleared furniture.
I am outraged we are penalised for being environmentalists and the new system is not being implemented properly by Cityclean.
Is this what we pay council tax for?
