Whatever their quality, NHS workers should not be attacked and a £1,000 fine would be a justified deterrent (The Argus, June 10).

But it goes both ways. NHS staff should always be understanding and courteous to patients and their companions.

And while we're about it, let's hear a big cheer for our army of unsung carers, many of whom are overworked, unpaid, unnoticed and have no one to complain to.

They're marvellous.
