In the past, major companies have taken pension "holidays", where they stopped contributing to employees' pensions.

Could Southern Water's CEO, Les Dawson, declare a dividend holiday and, instead of paying dividends, put all disposable profits towards improving water supplies?

I doubt Southern Water customers will receive any such consideration, especially if their publicity officer, Mr Williams, considers £20 million a substantial amount (Letters, June 1), when it is a derisory percentage of their annual profits.
