I feel sure Leonardo da Vinci would have been as horrified as I was at the distortion of one of his great works (The Argus, June 5).

This is an appalling indictment of our society when the media, over-stimulated by the excitement of World Cup fever, can feel justified in causing offence to Christians and art-lovers alike.

I find it hard to believe Sven Goran Eriksson, David Beckham and the team, great football names that they are, can be comfortable seeing themselves portrayed as Jesus Christ and his Apostles.

As a joke it is very sick but, as a money-making gimmick, it is plumbing the depths of irreverence and poor taste.

Shame on you for publishing it and UKTV G2 for creating it.
