Adam Shields has been given the green light to complete his remarkable return from serious injury.
The Eastbourne Eagles star races tonight as his team take on high-flying Belle Vue Aces and the world's best rider, Jason Crump, at Arlington (7.30pm).
Shields, whose season seemed to be over when he suffered a broken pelvis, damaged hip and other injuries in Poland on Easter Monday, had a run out at the Welsh Open last Sunday.
He then came through two practice sessions, using facilities at Poole and Oxford immediately after those tracks had staged Elite League fixtures this week.
Eagles boss Jon Cook is ready to throw Shields back into top-flight action tonight.
Cook said: "I got the call at about 11 o'clock on Thursday night after he had practised at Oxford.
"He feels the time is right to come back and I am delighted.
"The pressure on him tonight will be immense in terms of his own expectations.
"But he needs to make his comeback at some time and this is the best time to do it.
"If he gets five or six points we will be happy in this particular meeting."
Dean Barker today pulled out of the British Championship, at Belle Vue tomorrow.
