In response to the article about the King Alfred (The Argus, June 6), I am sickened at the thought of those monstrous towers being made higher to decrease the size of the equally ugly surrounding residential blocks.
When are Brighton and Hove City Council, Gehry, Karis, ING and Gough & Co going to accept that the residents of Brighton and Hove don't want their potty ideas?
If the council concentrated on renovating the empty premises it owns, some of which are occupied by squatters, there would be no need for any new buildings on the King Alfred site apart from the new sports/leisure centre.
Meanwhile, as with all buildings open to the public, it is surely the council's duty to properly maintain the currently-neglected present King Alfred centre.
