It is extraordinary Des Turner is accusing Defend Council Housing of using "scare tactics" over rents and tenancies (Letters, June 7).
He was a member of the House of Commons council housing group which last year produced the report on the Fourth Option from which we take most of the evidence used to campaign against housing stock transfer.
This includes the fact that "registered social landlord (RSL) rents are consistently higher than council rents" and that "the fastest rising RSL rents are concentrated in transfer areas".
It also explains the difference between a secure tenancy and an assured tenancy and cites legal evidence that housing associations get away with breaking the promises made in tenancy agreements.
