A giant mural of 5,000 football fans is reviving the spirit of 1966 in Germany.

Warren Dudley's version of the immortal image of Bobby Moore lifting the World Cup at Wembley will be unveiled in Frankfurt tomorrow as England take on Paraguay.

Mr Dudley, 32, of Newhaven, has created the 15ft by 10ft flag out of tiny images sent to him by thousands of football fans nationwide, including scores of Brighton and Hove Albion supporters.

He said: "I have done this sort of mosaic art before and it struck me to do something for the World Cup. I posted messages on football internet forums including Albion's North Stand Chat, and the response I got was overwhelming. I suppose it's the next best thing for supporters who can't get to the games.

"The flag has been given to the England Supporters' Club and I'll be looking out for it on TV. I'm very proud of it."

He fed the images into a computer programme which arranged them to fit to the Bobby Moore image. Seagulls fan Mr Dudley said: "I can't take all the credit because the computer did a lot of the hard work.

"It works on two levels because from afar it looks like Bobby Moore at Wembley but the closer you get, you start seeing all the people's faces."
