Most bosses will be lenient and allow staff to watch England World Cup matches in work time, a survey has found.
Crawley solicitors Nigel Lynn surveyed 423 Sussex companies and discovered 67 per cent - 284 firms - will allow employees to switch on a television in the office.
It is not all altruism. Nigel Lynn managing director Steve Carter said bosses are deciding it is better to be flexible than risk staff taking "sickies."
But Mr Lynn warned that employers must decide where to draw the line.
"Even doing something positive for your employees can have a potentially negative effect these days.
It is becoming a legal minefield.
"With today's diverse workforce, it is unlikely to be just England matches that employees want to watch."
