Record labels are clamouring to sign Big Brother contestant Pete Stephenson's band Daddy Fantastic.

Pete, 24, is fast turning into one of the show's most popular contestants ever and his success is rubbing off on Daddy Fantastic, the Brighton band he fronts.

The band's manager and a close friend, Madame Pussycat, said three record labels had made offers already and a UK tour was being planned after hundreds of fans asked when they could see Daddy Fantastic in the flesh.

She said promoting the band was the main reason Pete, who suffers with Tourette's syndrome, had wanted to go on Big Brother but added that the labels were only interested because Daddy Fantastic had real talent.

Madame Pussycat said the band was grateful to their front man for the publicity but they were missing him badly.

"It's getting to the point where it's too hard to watch the show all the time because we miss him so much.

"He's been gone for weeks now and it's looking like it could be another ten.

"Big Brother is a crazy thing and it's quite a sacrifice what he's done, going in there and not being able to see family and friends for all that time, but he wanted to do it to highlight the band."

She said: "We are talking to three record labels at the moment and scheduling gigs for September and October.

"If it was just a gimmick and we didn't have a good show there's no way we would be getting these bookings. We have great songs and a really unusual live show."

The psychedelic rock and roll band's performances are not your ordinary gigs. The line-up includes zombie pole dancers, werewolves, strong men and fire-eaters.

Pete has proved massively popular both inside the house and out and has been favourite to win the show since day four.

Social networking website Myspace had to build a new page for Daddy Fantastic after 172,000 people tried to join their official site and crashed it. Madame Pussycat said: "Knowing Pete, I am not surprised by how successful he's been. He really shines compared to all the contestants there have ever been on Big Brother.

"If one of us went on there we would have a hard time but he is so patient and strong he is the best kind of person to cope with it."
