At last! A terrible eye disease is being highlighted in the BBC1 programme "The Doctors".
Babies can be born blind with it and the practice nurse on the programme is suffering from it. It is called retinitis pigmentosa.
There is no known cure.
On hearing a supermarket in Australia held a raffle to try to raise funds for research into it, I wrote to our local supermarkets to find out if they could help.
They all said they have their own charities they support. Tesco was the only one to send a donation.
Please, if anyone would like to donate, the address is:
The British Retinitis
Money is needed both for research to find a cure and to help the blind RP sufferers.
