What a defeatist attitude Jo Silby demonstrates (Letters, May 30), accepting that the natural habitat of all wildlife is being destroyed.
And a shallow peep-show-style tank built in a hostile, concrete, noisy environment on our seafront is not an acceptable alternative.
A quiet wildlife park which has a natural environment and ample space should be provided.
If it can't be, why continue to breed these animals in captivity? Also, for Jo Silby's information, animal rights campaigners I know are very concerned about the environment and most are vegetarian or vegan, a huge personal commitment to conserving the environment.
Too many people do nothing but say: "Oh dear, we're all doomed" and criticise anyone who speaks out.
Maybe Jo Silby should join the protestors outside the Brighton Sea Life Centre.
She may learn something.
