Sports shops are selling out of England football shirts with only a week to go until the team begins its World Cup campaign.
Fans have snapped up the shirts from stores across the city including the Brighton and Hove Albion FC Shop in Queen's Road, Brighton, and Asda in Crowhurst Road.
The supermarket, which sold out of the Umbro kit a month ago, charged £22 for a red adult away shirt, a third less than some sports shops.
The Albion shop, which can still print numbers and letters on the back of shirts bought from elsewhere, was selling the white home shirt at £22.99 for adults and £17.99 for children.
Many fans feel the shirts, at up to £34.99, are over-priced.
Barry Harvey, who runs a website selling England stickers and memorabilia from his home in Whitehawk Close, Brighton, said: "The shirts are massively over-priced. Asda had the right idea buying them all in bulk but of course they sold out in no time. Children see the shirts and have to have them because all their friends have got one so it's mum and dad who have to cough up."
England fan Josh Beal, 16, of Newhaven, bought a £20 white shirt from JJB Sports in Western Road, Brighton, on Friday. He said: "I didn't phone lots of places to find the cheapest one, I was just lucky it wasn't too expensive."
At shops checked by The Argus in Brighton, the children's kits were cheaper than the adult shirts.
The cheapest away shirts, the newest kit available, cost £17.49 for children and £22.49 for adults from Sports World in North Street, Brighton.
The cheapest home shirts were also in Sports World where children's shirts cost £8.99 and adult's strips were £11.99.
Sports World manager Paul Wilson said the company had signed a deal with Umbro and the FA to make sure they did not sell out.
The most expensive shop for home shirts was JD Sports in Churchill Square. An adult shirt cost £32 and a child's shirt cost £24.99.
The most expensive shop for an adult's away shirt was Footlocker in Churchill Square where a shirt cost £29.99.
The most expensive place for a child's away shirt was Debenhams in Churchill Square, where it cost £26.
