I was amazed to read the boundary stone had been removed from Wild Park and placed on the green adjacent to St Peter's Church in an attempt to stop people playing ball games there (The Argus, May 30).
I remember this stone from my childhood and cannot believe no research was carried out before this action was taken.
Could a new lump of rock or a piece that had no historical or community significance not have been used instead?
It is good the stone has been returned but I hope the remains of the water pump and its accompanying rocks at Falmer pond do not receive the same attention.
I have pictures of my brother and me sitting on the Falmer rocks when we were very young and I am sure many other Brightonians have similar family memories.
