How interesting. Under your headline "Vandals are told to just buzz off", you describe a device which sends out an irritating noise (The Argus.
May 30).
Isn't that called an MP3 player, which most of the teenagers at whom this device is apparently aimed, have glued to their ears 24/7?
Dispersing teenagers from one area will only cause problems in another area, as the people of South Lancing have discovered. A couple of months ago, these same teenagers were causing trouble in North Lancing but got moved on by the police.
Lets face it, for the teenagers who cause these problems, there is nothing else for them to do in Lancing.
They don't want to be Scouts or Guides or join the local St John's Ambulance Brigade, but they do need something to do in their spare time.
I was born in Lancing more than 52 years ago and I have seen the village slowly deteriorate and listened to people continually going on about the behaviour of local teenagers.
It would make far more sense if the local shop owners got together and asked the teenagers what they would like to do, instead of continually herding them on.
Maybe, with a little help and encouragement, they could remove the problem from our streets without resorting to stupid devices such as the Mosquito.
