In the absence of bathing huts, it is suggested David Sawyers uses the Prince Regent Pool to relieve his arthritis (Letters, May 27).
I also suffer from arthritis and get no relief swimming in a pool.
Only in the sea is there sufficient buoyancy and the cold and the movement of the waves helps to unstick locked joints to provide relief lasting several hours.
Also, some people with arthritis cannot do breast-stroke or crawl due to the strain it puts on the neck.
Their only option, backstroke, is not practical in a pool, where there are often many other swimmers.
It is the sea or nothing and Brighton and Hove City Council should make this asset more readily available to city residents.
