Reading about the retired aircraft carrier USS Oriskany being sunk into the depths of the Gulf of Mexico to form an artificial reef, I was reminded of a similar idea I had a few years ago which I thought might help angling friends.
This was to sink hundreds of old cars, vans and lorries along the South Coast to create a man-made reef, probably from three-quarters to a mile offshore.
Perhaps old fridges, freezers, gas stoves and so on could be put inside the vehicles. This would, of course, then save on landfill sites.
would stop this once and for all. In the long run, it would benefit everybody. It would be nice to know whether other people have any ideas on this subject.
