network of footpaths across and around this land, leading all the way up to the beautiful South Downs.
These will not be affected at all by the development and, in fact, their use and maintenance will be enhanced by the driving range and made considerably safer.
No public rights of access are affected.
There is no application for floodlights.
It is simply a driving range and children's sporting facilities, to be placed on private land. The facilities will be municipal, for the community to use, not elite membership like other golf clubs.
essential at a time when this country's children need more exercise to combat the growing obesity of the young generation.
Children must be considered ahead of dogs and dog walkers who are, indeed, the minority. The Downs are less than a mile away and this presents more than adequate space for dog walkers.
There are also several parks between this private land and St Leonards Road, Hove, where JL Holden can walk the dog without trespassing on private land and search for a reason to complain about a facility which will be enjoyed by the local community.
I welcome sound, fact-based objections but this kind of uneducated objection does no one any favours, in particular the 1,000-plus children at the school and local residents like me who are fed up with cleaning dog mess off their shoes and their children's hands, knees and faces.
