I would like to thank everyone volunteers, workers, visitors and sponsors - who supported the second Roedale Allotments Society Open Day on Saturday, May 20.
This year we were delighted to include a very successful plant sale on the Lower Roedale site in Hollingdean, run by Cats Protection, Brighton.
They raised £278 for their much-needed work in the city.
The raffle and refreshments were sponsored by Infinity Foods and other generous firms, all helping to increase the final fundraising total.
Wack the Rat, a coconut shy, face painting, Compost Doctor, free goodie bags and a visit from a fire engine added to the family fun.
With true British spirit we battled on through an appalling gale on one of the most exposed hills in Brighton.
Well done everybody see you all next year.
-Miss G Hole, hon secretary, Roedale Allotments Society
