Recently, I took my wife to the Royal Sussex County Hospital for urgently-needed treatment. We arrived at 7pm and were received with much courtesy and concern.
My wife was placed in a side room, as the treatment was likely to be lengthy and required isolation.
The care and efficiency shown by the whole department - doctors, nurses and ancillary staff - was considerable and I have nothing but praise for my wife's treatment.
Because of the lengthy waiting period, I had the opportunity to watch the accident and emergency department in operation.
I was staggered at the range of treatments they were required to deliver during that evening and early the following morning.
They worked brilliantly as a team and backed each other up in every respect. The pressure they are all under seems to be overlooked by the people who handle the money.
They work with no consideration for themselves but with the ultimate wish to assist all their patients to get well as soon as possible.
I would ask them to accept our thanks for all they did.
