I have been following the discussion of the quality of tap water here in the South-East with more than a passing interest having, commercially, served many pots of tea and coffee through the years.
I find myself intrigued and yet puzzled by other readers' comments - intrigued, as for most of us living in this area it is nothing new.
In fact, the quality of water from the tap these days is, I can assure you, much improved from that delivered 20 years ago.
It is, however, still just not good enough and, given the price we pay, we deserve better.
This leads me to being puzzled. As the offending supply is not up to an acceptable standard, why not take the action I did many years ago and buy a water-filter kettle?
You will find the difference in leaf tea and ground coffee is unbelievable never mind cooled water for drinking purposes.
And think about all the money you will save on buying bottled water after the initial outlay.
