I wonder if people who walk their dogs on the spare piece of land in Benfield Valley behind Sainsbury's and Hove Park School are aware of the planning application to erect a golf driving range, football pitches and floodlights, leaving only a small footpath for dog walkers?
This is the only piece of land locally where it is safe to walk dogs without causing a nuisance and most of us who own dogs use it on a daily basis.
I realise there is an argument for using public parks but these days most of them have facilities for small children, areas for those who wish to play football or even just kick a ball around and, in the case of Greenleas park in Hove, youngsters riding around on mini motorbikes - all of which make it quite hazardous to take dogs into this environment.
I would urge all those who walk their dogs in this area and feel strongly about the proposed development to write to the planning department expressing their objection to this application.
