I agree with Debbie Knowles (Letters, May 10). The roads should be closed for the Brighton Festival Children's Parade.
We waited at the South Gate arch of the Royal Pavilion. Each time traffic was let through, the parade was halted then, as the traffic was stopped again, stewards came along saying: "Hurry up, come on, run, keep moving, quick, quick" and there was a bewildered crush of children trying to keep up.
It's a wonder there was not an accident. We had to run over to East Street to catch up with our granddaughter.
The singing was finished on the beach and people were leaving, thinking it was all over.
Why can't the parade start as it used to, in Madeira Drive, and then proceed along the top seafront promenade, thus avoiding all traffic?
Also, did the press photographer run out of film, as the lovely pictures are all of the first half of the procession.
