Seventies funk is a term that turns our thoughts to America.
But the UK had its own burgeoning scene which produced material easily on par with - and in some cases better than - our American funk cousins.
Comprising some original masters from the British scene The UK Funk All-Stars went all out to show off these homegrown classics and did so with an obvious pride.
The ever-evolving band including former members of Cymande, Average White Band and FBI proved when it comes to funk and soul, things only get better with age.
Highlights included Cymande's irresistible Brothers On The Slide and Average White Band's Pick Up The Pieces - a bona fide dancefloor classic.
The collective gave us a mixture of soul, jazz, blues, reggae and gospel threaded together with wah-wah guitars, chunky beats and breaks and soaring horns.
These guys don't get together often, so to be in the presence of such funk royalty was a privilege.
