The Festival is full of fantastic free events across the board, from theatrical shenanigans to riotous gigs and cutting-edge artists.
Here are five of the best freebies you can enjoy this week.
Stick It On - The Dedicated Sessions, The Famous Spiegeltent, Brighton, Sat, 11.30pm-2am
- Be it Bowie or Abba, The Birdie Song or Queen's Don't Stop Me Now, bring along a favourite tune (records or CDs acceptable), get behind the decks and dedicate your song to someone you love, be it man, woman, child or beast. This is your chance to experience 15 minutes of DJ heaven.
Brighton Festival Of Artists' Open Houses, Until May 28, weekends only. Times and venues vary.
- Vibrant photography, quirky ceramics and exqusite jewellery designs are among the items on display at this year's Brighton Festival Of Artists Open Houses. More than 1,000 artists are exhibiting in more than 200 venues including homes, gardens, studios and galleries. There are 14 trails to follow each weekend in May. - An elegant purveyor of smoky vocals, accomplished guitar playing, masterful scatting, well crafted standards and originals, New York born Suzahn is a composer, guitarist and jazz diva. Influenced by blues, R 'n' B, and pop, she has worked with the likes of Vanessa Williams, Suzanne Vega and Jaco Pastorius.
A Fine Line Between Laughter And Loathing, Boardwalk, Ohso Social, May 19-21, starts 8pm.
- Highly visual, exciting, physical, thought-provoking theatre. Meet incredible characters like Bobo, a frustrated poetic clown. There's Ivana Shave the beautiful, bearded lady, The Great Incognito, a washed-up drunkard magician. And don't forget Clunk the simple strongman. Can a circus troupe survive in the real world?
Forest Garden Open Day, Moulsecoomb Place Allotments, Queensdown School Road, Sunday, May 21 Tours on the hour every hour. Starts noon.
- Set up 12 years ago, the Forest Garden has grown steadily and now incorporates seven of the allotment plots. See outlawed veg, organic treats and compost loos. Plus storytelling for kids. A wildlife area is now home to frogs, toads, lizards, hedgehogs, moles, birds and insects.
