As a former long-ago member of the Friends of Hove Engineerium who failed to keep up his membership and attendance, I bow to the terrific efforts of Mike Holland, who has put his money where his mouth is to save this magnificent building and its contents from certain doom.

Just one thing puzzles me. Why did Brighton and Hove City Council not do a bit more to help when they knew it was going down the pan?

Thanks to Mr Holland, the Engineerium and all its dedicated staff can now go from strength to strength.

Maybe now the council will see what a great asset our city almost lost.
