We have a wonderful tradition in this city for getting stuck in.
The workshop choir of Brighton Goes Gospel started singing three months ago and gave their all on Saturday to an audience packed to the rafters.
We waited a little too long for the singing to start, but once the vocals came, they boomed out and around the church acoustics.
More than 100 singers belted out Oh Happy Day and got us all smiling.
The mood turned a little religious after that, not to my liking, but I guess it's a struggle to find a decent range of gospel songs without numerous Jesus citations.
The audience were fantastic supporters, cheering on the choir, though not getting involved and on their feet enough until the end of the first half.
Then the workshop gave way to the professionals who wowed the crowd with their talents, especially that of guest vocalist, Wayne Ellington.
He soon got the crowd going and ended an afternoon of joy with a few karaoke amens from the clapping crowds.
