Having read your article about Poohaven (The Argus, April 27), I am at a loss and hope you may be able to clarify matters for me.
This application has been refused by both Peacehaven and Lewes Councils at the wishes of the townsfolk.
I thought councils were elected by the residents to stand up for the rights of the townspeople.
They are paid expenses which are met by the same people.
My question is: What gives ESCC the right to the final decision, when the two other councils have refused? Even more of a puzzle is why are they looking at terms for a planning application which should never have been allowed, on a greenfield site chosen by Southern Water?
There is something wrong with a system in which Big Brother can decide the future of an area against the wishes of the population. Can you give me any answers?
