I am sure many of us who seek to preserve Brighton and Hove's heritage support the efforts being made by the recently-formed Friends of St Andrew's to save the historic church.
It would be tragic if the building was turned into another block of flats.
Although the church is no longer used for worship, the installation of a heating system and a public restroom would not only enable it to be used for weddings but also as a place for private prayer.
It would be good to have a resident minister, trained in pastoral counselling, who would be available to give advice and help to those who come into the building to pray - and there may be many as it is in a strategic position.
The Chapel Royal is an example of how a downtown church can be used for lunchtime services and it has been quite a success over the years.
In the same way, St Andrew's could continue its spiritual usefulness.
