The photograph printed by Terry Applin of actresss Michaela Nicholls sporting Nazi uniform and suggestively showing her stocking top was offensive, tasteless and ignorant (The Argus, April 25).
One wonders what the generation who lost loved ones in the Second World War feels about images such as this, as well as maimed ex-soldiers and concentration camp survivors.
Contrary to the idea put over in your picture, the Nazis weren't a group of washed-up stars from a third-rate Seventies BBC sitcom or pretty actresses but were, in fact, militarist, murderous pyschopaths who took power in Germany and overran Europe with a policy of genocide.
You will recall the reaction when Prince Harry attended a party wearing a Nazi uniform.
One of the stories which emerged was an owner of a fancy dress shop stopped hiring out SS uniforms because they were coming back ripped and covered in blood - the people hiring them were seen as fair game for assault.
I wonder how people can be so stupid as to hire them in the first place and then complain when they are beaten up. Freedom of the Press does not entitle you to breathe life into old evils.
In modern Germany, this would be a matter for the criminal courts. You should be aware of that.
If you think fascism is something to make light of you, should visit Dachau.
