Sussex has enjoyed one of the hottest days of the year so far.
A high of 19.7C was recorded on the coast on Friday, making it the warmest place in Britain.
The record was broken a day later when the temperature in Saunton Sands, Devon, hit 20C.
A forecaster from PA WeatherCentre said: "Much of England and Wales experienced good weather on Saturday with the best of the sunshine in the South-East."
He said Eastbourne had the longest spell of good weather, enjoying 9.7 hours of sunshine. The fine weather sent people rushing to get out their barbecues.
A Sainsburys spokeswoman said: "We immediately saw an increase in purchases of items for outdoor activities such as frisbees, fresh prepared salads and charcoal for people getting ready for barbecues."
