Regarding "Mobile Menace" (The Argus, March 23), stand on any street corner and you will soon count dozens of drivers using hand-held mobile phones, not wearing seatbelts or with faulty lights or excessively loud exhausts.
Just as "zero tolerance" has been demonstrated to increase compliance with the law time and time again, failure to enforce what many police officers consider to be petty laws inevitably leads to the situation we have now.
There appears to be a growing culture of people doing what they think they can get away with rather than what is required by the laws of the society they live in.
