Albion's big daddy' Gifton Noel-Williams aims for a hat-trick of goalscoring debuts today - after a friendly reminder from his wife.

The father-of-six is hoping for a flying start against Luton at Withdean to give the Seagulls' Championship relegation battle a lift.

Noel-Williams, on loan from Burnley for the rest of the season, revealed: "I scored on my debut for Burnley and for Stoke as well.

"The missus was laughing, saying 'you've scored on your debut for your last two clubs, you've got a lot of pressure behind you'.

"I'll go out there and play my game, but if the chances come and luck is on my side then I'll put it away and it will be happy days.

"We (Burnley) beat Luton away and they are the old enemy from when I was at Watford, so it would be nice to get another win over them.

"Hopefully I'll get the winner in the 90th minute, that would make it even better."

Noel-Williams trained with his new team-mates for the first time yesterday following his deadline-beating move from Burnley for an undisclosed five-figure loan fee.

The arrival of the affable 26-year-old north Londoner ends Albion's protracted hunt for an imposing target man.

He wants to repay their faith by providing the missing link in the fight for survival.

"I think I'm what the club is missing at the moment," Noel-Williams said.

"I've spoken to the gaffer and he tells me they've got a lot of young players with a lot of energy who want to do well, but they haven't got someone with a little bit of experience to hold the ball up, win their battles, bring other people into the game and maybe to nick a goal. Hopefully I'll bring what is missing at the moment.

"I know they've got some very good young players and we can all unite together and do something.

"I know Colin (Kazim-Richards), so that's a good start, and from what I've seen so far the people I've met have been top class.

"The club has got a lot of history and a lot about it so hopefully we can do the great escape.

"When we played against Brighton at Burnley they played quite well and I'm quite surprised they are where they are.

"If we weren't playing Sheffield Wednesday (April 17) then it would be a bit more far-fetched, but as long as we beat them then there is only four points in it and who knows?

"I think our run-in is a little bit easier than theirs, although it's easy to say that on paper.

"There are not a lot of teams left in our remaining fixtures who you look at and think we cannot beat them or get a point out of it."

Manager Mark McGhee believes an immediate impact from his new signing could prey on the minds of Albion's relegation rivals.

"Were Gifton to play well and score a goal and we win the game, then not only would it give us a massive bit of hope for the remaining games it would also be a blow to Sheffield Wednesday, Millwall and Crewe," he said.

"They'd be looking at us and thinking we've got better by signing this player so there can be a lot of psychological damage done to the opposition and a lot of psychological good done for ourselves."
