Twelve million gallons is the amount of tap water the proposed incinerator in Newhaven will need to operate each year.
This figure was confirmed by an Onyx/Veolia official at a recent meeting.
Sea water is not good enough for Onyx, river water is not good enough for Onyx - its says it must have tap water for its proposed incinerator.
When I mentioned at the meeting there was a serious water shortage, reservoirs are only a third full, water meters are being installed to save water, hosepipe bans are in place and some councils are talking about stand pipes in the streets, the Onyx response was these problems are not an issue with them and the 12 million gallons is a minor amount.
I for one will not stand by and let this company deprive us of water and clean air.
