The Pipettes, an all-girl doo-wop group with a post-punk heart, met at a beach party in Brighton a few years ago, where they swore world domination would be theirs.
Since then, Becki, Gwenno and Rose have become the polka-dotted princesses of the gig circuit, but signing with The Go! Teams label, Memphis Industries, has thrust them into the limelight.
Last year they had headline tours in the UK and Europe, as well as providing support for the likes of The Magic Numbers and Graham Coxon.
They have spent most of January recording their debut album in collaboration with The Go! Team's producer Gareth Parton, and their latest single, Your Kisses Are Wasted On Me, was voted best "fresh meat" by listeners of Radio One's Zane Lowe show.
Their previous single, Dirty Mind, scored high up in the first post-Peel Festive Fifty, and Huw Stephens, Peel's successor, has repeatedly named the girls as his tip for greatness in 2006.
With influences ranging from The Shangri-Las to the Riot Grrl movement, The Pipette's combination of witty lyrics and spiky riffs, all sugarcoated with sweet, soulful harmonies is a beguiling mix.
Accompanied by all-boy backing band The Cassettes, their live shows are an riot of synchronised dance movements and hand claps delivered with tongues planted firmly in their collective cheeks.
Starts 8pm, tickets cost £6.50. Call 01273 673311.
