Norman Cook's Southern Fried Records label takes over the Ocean Rooms for one night only.

Nathan Detroit is long-term resident at The Chemical Brothers' eclectic London night, Glint. In addition to this, his enviable career has seen him play alongside The Chemical Brothers at Glastonbury and on their world tours.

The son of wholesome hippies, Brighton-based Tom Gandey, aka Cagedbaby, was, he says, raised amidst boats and pianos.

His two brothers now run their father's fishmonger business but Tom decided to follow more in the footsteps of the distaff side.

"All my mum's family are classical musicians and my grandfather was a conductor of the Royal Philharmonic," he says. "When I was young I thought I might combine both of the family passions and become a rock star yachtsman. You know, like Simon le Bon."

Cagedbaby's big break came after a spur-of-the-moment trip to the Miami Winter Music Conference in 2002. DJ Magazine was looking for an unsigned artist to follow around and stumbled across Tom at a party. Stunned by the quality of his demo, they covered him in a two-page feature.

Tom's debut album has drawn comparisons to artists as wide-ranging as The Pet Shop Boys and T.Rex, and he is influenced by everything from Talking Heads to Toto think acid-house superhero meets New Romantic.

After recording the album Tom decided to convert it for the live arena, forming a band with friends from Brighton: Jim Carmichael (drums), Jimmy Day (keyboards), Kan Lailey (guitar) and himself on vocals.

After a year of heavy gigging, which has seen the band play everywhere from Glastonbury to FUJI Rock, the Cagedbaby sound was transformed. As anyone who witnessed their recent gig at The Barfly in London will tell you, they are now an awesome live force, generating the same hype as electronic peers Mylo, Cut Copy and Clor.

Tom has also remixed for artists as diverse as Ocean Colour Scene, Har Mar Superstar and Armand Van Helden, and he's currently holed up in the studio, working on his debut artist album alongside Ashley Beedle, Justin Robertson and none other than label boss Norman Cook.
