The people who want to keep the old shelters in Palmeira Square have obviously never had to use them.

I regularly wait for a bus on the southern side of Palmeira and the bitter wind off the sea and the rain make these intolerable.

They are only fancy ironwork, with no protection and large gaps between the glass and frame. The one which has now been erected is simple and offers protection.

The people who designed and approved the old shelters should be made to stand in them for 15 minutes and then sacked. Would a councillor tell us how much they originally cost the ratepayers?
