Isn't it time to more stringently punish the illegal use of mobile phones while driving? Though I appreciate the police have a difficult job and their resources are stretched, it appears to me that less time could be spent hounding the motorist doing 35 in a 30 mile limit and more time obtaining convictions against the large number who flout the law and endanger the lives of others by continuing with this dangerous habit.
While it is obviously the shortsightedness of politicians to not outlaw the use of driving with a mobile from their inception. Six points on an offender's licence and a hefty fine would surely be a deterrent.
