I am utterly disgusted with the widespread vandalism which occurred on Saturday night in and around the Rose Garden, Preston Park. Beautiful planters have been smashed, a pergola demolished, a fountain centre-piece smashed and plants ruined.
The perpetrators also pulled up two sets of goalposts and broke them. The extent of the damage points towards a deliberate act of vandalism as opposed to just drunken idiocy.
I walk my dog in Preston Park and I have delighted in seeing the progress of work in the new Rose Garden area. It is, or was, a picture and will be stunning when the roses blossom.
Unfortunately there are no CCTV cameras to catch these cretins.
