Action Station after-school and holiday club at Downs Junior School is unique among childcare facilities available for working parents.
Instead of pushing one "exciting activity" after another (usually with some kind of trophy for one winning child), it allows children to do what they would be doing if they were at home or a friend's house play, take it easy and direct activities of their own choice.
I get the feeling the club is not popular with the school or local authority because it has no hidden academic or competitive agenda.
However, it is not there for the benefit of the school or the council, it is for the children and their parents, all of whom rate it incredibly highly. Please keep this club.
