A schoolgirl who had to escape through militia blockades while visiting tsunami-hit Sri Lanka is giving a talk on her experience.
Rhiannon Stuart-Jones and her journalist father Nick, from Steyning, were trapped in Battacaloa last November after the rebel Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) set up blockades around the city.
Frankie Taggart, assistant news editor of The Argus, was also caught up in the violence as he accompanied the Stuart-Jones's to report on their visit.
The group eventually managed to sneak through the blockades under cover of darkness.
Rhiannon was invited to watch the Catholic Agency For Overseas Development (CAFOD's) aid workers in action in Sri Lanka after she raised £8,000 for the tsunami relief effort.
Mr Stuart-Jones, a cameraman, acted as her chaperone while filming footage for documentaries during the trip.
The Stuart-Jones' will speak about their journey at the Penfold Church Hall of St Andrew's Church, Church Street, Steyning on Wednesday, March 22, at 7.30pm.
