Clearly, Paul Grivell has misunderstood the position of the parents who have campaigned for a pause for proper consultation.
Our aim throughout has been to work towards a system which provides a fair outcome for all children in the city, whether they live in Whitehawk, Queens Park, West Hove, or anywhere else.
Given the rushed nature of proposals which were constructed squarely around the demands of a particular set of parents for access to two particular schools, why is it unreasonable to allow a further year for an inclusive consultation process?
It is most certainly not certain what the ultimate solution will be or who will be winners or losers but my experience has been that a constructive dialogue between all involved achieves far more than banging drums, blowing whistles and haranguing councillors and officials.
