Albion's comeback kid Adam Hinshelwood declared today: "My season starts here."
Hinshelwood is raring to go for the relegation run-in after 11 months on the sidelines with a serious knee injury.
The adaptable 22-year-old, back in the defence at Crewe today in place of the suspended Paul McShane, said: "It's been hard watching the lads all through the season but now I'm back involved it feels like the start for me really.
"I'm getting there. Each day I'm working hard in training and if I am asked to do a job in the 11 games we have left I'm ready for it."
Hinshelwood's first team return at Norwich earlier this month, on the right side of midfield, was cut short early in the second half by the first red card of his career.
The resulting one-match ban ruled him out of last Saturday's home defeat by Watford.
Manager McGhee is banking on Hinshelwood's temperament making up for his lack of first team action.
"In a sense Hinsh is like having a new signing but he has not had games and that's a worry," McGhee said.
"We are asking him to go in at a stage where it is important. He's not had as many matches as I would have liked him to have but mentally he is such a composed and level-headed kind of character.
"He's got a great temperament, so you feel it will not be a big deal to him, he'll not be fazed by anything."
Today's youth team game at home to QPR has been called off.
