A aggressive beggar has been given a two-year Asbo, banning him from begging in two seaside towns.
Police acted after receiving several complaints about the tactics used by 25-year-old Dean Langley over a period of 14 months.
He is the first person in Hastings and St Leonards to receive an Asbo restricting him from begging in Hastings and Bexhill. Langley was also told my Hastings magistrates this week he must not use any foul or offensive language or cause harassment, alarm or distress.
Police and community leaders in Hastings and St Leonards have taken a robust stance against antisocial behaviour.
Last year a town-wide street drinking ban was introduced after studies showed a partial ban merely displaced drinkers to outlying areas.
Three notorious street drinkers, Jeffrey Machin, Christopher Reed and Robert Taylor, have been named and shamed on leaflets produced by the SHP.
Last year Hastings also became one of 47 zones in the UK to run a Home Office-funded service called It's Your Call to encourage people to report antisocial behaviour.
