Master choreographer Michael Clark likes the bad and the beautiful.
The famously wayward choreographer constantly pushes his own limits and expects the same of others.
He makes a return to Brighton with two pieces from his repertoire, which he has been building up for 25 years.
The simply-titled O marks the beginning of the three-year Stravinsky Project. Later instalments will take in The Rite Of Spring and Les Noces.
First comes Apollo, a score which Michael first tackled in 1994. For the reworked 2005 version, music is played live by the Aurora Orchestra.
Before O, comes OO, which has enough Clark trademarks to satisfy diehard fans. Full of striking images, it is accompanied by a punk soundtrack from the likes of Iggy Pop and Wire, played at full volume, naturally.
The sensual piece is for eight dancers, including Michael himself. His first dance steps were taken at the age of four, performed traditional Scottish dances at Highland gatherings in his native Aberdeen.
A few years later, he joined the Royal School of Ballet and has worked with Ballet Rambert and Richard Alston, and is now a dance icon in his own right.
Starts 8pm. Tickets £10-£17.50. Call 01273 709709.
